The company does try to push drivers to lease but nobody is required to sign a lease. They do have positions available as company drivers but do require company drivers to team up (two drivers in one truck.)
I would NEVER, EVER suggest anyone lease a truck from England. You can expect to hove taken out automatically,(weekly)
1) a truck payment of approx. $480 for a new truck or $459 for a used truck
2) a variable lease charge of $.14/ mile
3) truck insurance at $152
4) a settlement administration fee of $3.46
5) pay for fuel at $1.25 per gallon
6) maintenance reserve, $.07/mile
7) fuel tax reserve, $.015/mile
8) $.10 to hire a 2nd seat student to drive with you if you choose to.
You should also expect to spend approx $.07/mile on upkeep of the truck.
Now a lease driver makes $.88/ mile.
Here's an example for a solo lease driver-
drives 2500 miles per week (paid miles)
pay rate $0.88
truck payment $480.00
truck insurance $152.00
settlement fee $3.46
Variable mileage $350.00 $.14/mile
fuel $504.81 $1.25 6.5mpg
Maintenance reserve $175.00 see above
suggested maintenance $100.00 see above
fuel tax reserve $37.50 see above
This means for 45-50 hours of driving you make $397.23 after expenses.
I hope you find this useful.
I have been a company driver for over 4 years and have been a trainer for 3.5 years of that. CR England has made me mad at some times but I've never worked for any company that hasn't. As a trainer I make an average of 5000 miles per week which pays $1400 per week on average. The equipment is good, I drive a brand new Freighliner Cascadia. They do try to train as many people as possible quickly and have a really bad turnover. CR England has an open door policy. If you have a problem, they encourage you to communicate and if your problems are not resolved you can go to the next level up in management. Most people's problems is that they don't know who to contact. They do have very specific rules and as long as you stay within their rules you will never have a problem. Your safety is the biggest concern. If you are ever asked to do anything illegal, unsafe, or against policy there is a direct contact to upper management for complaints.

3. Written by star23, on 11-03-2010 02:30 I have been in this industry for many years, and NO I repeat NOOOO trucking company I have ever worked for has had to put up metal detectors or armed guards for any employees. That's not an open door policy, that's fear!!
4. Written by Sidney, on 08-03-2010 18:04 I went through the schooling and leased a truck. Firstly during schooling my supposed trainers made 0 dollars. I used my school money to survive me and my trainer on. Second after all the schooling was done I leased for 5 months. For all 5 months me and my brother who teamed starved. We were literally bringing in 2300 to 5300 dollars a week and we never had a positive balance. Now after 5 months of driving for this scam of a company we are 6000 dollars in the red for the lease and 2000 dollars for the schooling. Who are you kidding this was a scam and a half. Even new jersey recognizes that C.R.England is a scam!
5. Written by you should admit you are part , on 14-02-2010 16:07 only an england would pretend that this bs about being a good company and those numbers are complete bullsh@t. I know i paid it every week. That's why there is ARMED security seperating the drivers from the "office people" they'd all get killed for the lives you destroy.
6. Written by jmmate, on 01-02-2010 19:42 yes you are right, the trainer makes all the money the trainee gets 450.00 minus taxes and 2 new cre fees.... deducted. another bunch of bs. also,.. the trainer is suppose to be up and in teh passenger seat training and logging those hours as such. however, you run as a TEAM so the trainer sleeps and only logs hours they drive. because i was already a good driver,.. my trainer left me alone on the first day after about the 3rd hour of driving. we ran as a team since then. my second trainer...(my first one was fired in oregon and left me stranded there with all my stuff til a cab came and got me and took me to a bus station so i could take bus back to salt lake) was wonderful and left me alone right away too,. and we ran as a team. he felt so bad for me getting screwed the he paid for my meals everyday... wonderful man!!
7. Written by jmmate, on 01-02-2010 19:35 HELLO !!!! WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON!!! i was there 4 months... my first 30 days ended up being 85,.. i tried to talk to them.. they wouldnt talk to me about it...after being there on phase 1 for 83 days i wanted to go home for 1 day.. i only lived 3 hours from the terminal.. they told me no!!!! they wanted me to sit in the hotel and wait for a phase 2 trainer.. which at the time had a 3-6 WEEK,.. yes week not day.. wait. they were NOT accepting any more company drivers... and the ones that were company... unless they were repossessing a truck for cre.. was not getting much for miles. you had to team and you had to split the miles.. not paid individual. and the break down was more like this old truck with 350,000 + miles= 529.00 wk insurance ===================== 225.00 wk maintenance=====7 cnts mile, apro 250.oo variable mileage,, which is actually a depreciation fee they call it now 14 cents per mile or around 450.00 wk if you are getting the good miles plus the fuel, the tax, etc. once you add all the stuff up you MIGHT take home 400.00 wk if you get the miles. a lot of time you wont get the miles you will sit. there were weeks we hit 5000 miles and weeks we hit 1500. then the clutch goes out at 1600.00 or we sit for 4 days in idaho because there are no local loads... i can go on for hours.. I WAS THERE.. I LIVED IT... i can tell you the honest truth. even my trainer said that us new guys dont have a chance and cant make any money because all the fees are way up from when he started. you cant make any money solo cuz you have to watch your miles and you wont get but around 1500-2500,.. closer to 1500 most of the time.. which will barely pay your fees....i can break it down for you step by step in more detail and with numbers close and exact if you wish.
8. Written by Rick G, on 22-01-2010 05:26 This confirms what I said in another post . 5,000 miles a week training ? You're not training . You're running team . How many on duty hours do you spend in the passenger seat training the driver ? You get $1400 . What does the trainee get , less than $400 a week trainee pay for doing the same work ?
